Loving The World

10/10/2011

Today we continue our formerly postponed series “Lose your faith in 5 easy steps”. Today is step 4, loving the world.

Loving the world isn’t the same as drifting away from Him like a boat floating from a dock. Loving the world is hopping in the driver’s seat, firing up the motor, and flying out to deep water.

1 John 2:15 tells us “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is no in him”. That makes it pretty cut and dry. You see, the world makes it so easy to love it. Many things seem to feel better when done the world’s way. Many equate this with material things, and being yourself. Not true, nothing is wrong with self-expression of having a few things here and there, the problem comes when we use those two things as justification for idolatry.

I know tons of “rich” and “blessed” people but from my experience with them, they don’t put those things above God. On the same token, I know those who do. I have been one of them. On both ends.

I have allowed my human “wants” to outweigh my spiritual “needs”. And if you are being honest with yourself, you have to.

How do we fix this and avoid step four? We keep God closer to our hearts than we do things of this Earth. Sounds easier than it is, but it is far greater to have the love of the Lord in our lives, than a love for cars, boats or houses.

God Bless,

Chris

Reflecting God’s Mercy

03/28/2011

God Hold's your heart in His hands, and shows you mercy in your time of need.

Hello Everyone,

The other day I was in the chat room, I minister in, alone. So, I started posting scripture. When I post scripture I use a bible app, that randomly puts out scriptures, before i use it, I pray for God to show me the scriptures He wants me to post. so I’m posting and one of the scriptures
captured my attention.

Micah 6:8 ‘He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’

So I  decided to look up mercy in the dictionary & then I looked up “Biblical Mercy”.

The dictionary’s Mercy: The compassionate treatment of or attitude towards an offendor or adversary who is in one’s power or care. Clemency; pity; something for which to be thankful; “it was a mercy we got out alive”.

The Bible‘s Mercy- God’s love to people. When He does not remember the bad things that we do.  Help to those who are in need or difficulty. The love that God has when He makes us good. God’s love and the good things that He does. The feeling of love that God has towards all that He’s made. Being kind to bad people. When we are kind and help a person who does wrong. We do it to show that God loves them, the love that God shows when He forgives.

God’s mercy is pretty amazing, I’m glad to have learned about it. That’s the kind of mercy we should have, when we minister the word or even help someone to overcome their issues, we need to remember that God has patiently, quietly and with a steadfast Love, waited till we were ready to receive Him, He didn’t force us. We need to be willing to forgive, without holding anger or bitterness toward those who hurt us. That’s how God has Mercy on us, over & over.

Lord thank You for Your Mercy, I need it in the trillions, Help me to be a mercy giver, even
when it’s hard. In Jesus Holy Name.

God bless you all with much mercy,

Hope
