Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3 NIV

How to keep the unity of Stockbridge Community.

1. FOCUS on what we have in common, not our differences.

So let’s agree to use all our energy in getting along with each other. Help others with encouraging words; don’t drag them down by finding fault. Romans 14:19 MSG

2. Be REALISTIC in your expectations.

Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Ephesians 4:2 NLT

3. Refuse to LISTEN to gossip.

Fire goes out for lack of fuel, and tensions disappear when gossip stops. Proverbs 26:20 LIVING

4. By stepping up as ONE through CONNECT GROUPS.

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:22-23

When we step up as ONE through Connect Groups we….

Offer hope through friendship.
Nurture leaders through commitments.
Engage our campus through worshipping God together.

Your next steps today:
1. I will become one with my SCC family by joining a Connect Group (See SCCVIEW.net)
2. I have been away from Christ & am recommitting my life to Him today.
3. I have not accepting Christ in my life before today, but I now accept Him as Lord & Savior.

Being Rooted In God’s Family

09/16/2011

Bulletin/Handout notes

 Original Message/Sermon:  Pastor Jeff Daws

From morning service at Stockbridge Community Church on 9/11/11.

(listen to sermon or make a donation at SCCview.Net)

Today’s point: Loving God + Loving people = LIFE.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39

***How to make the most of my life.

1. Learn to become loving.

When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers. Galatians 6:10

Let love be your greatest aim. 1 Corinthians 14:1a

2. Give the greatest expression of love: time.

My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action. 1 John 3:18

Truly I tell you, Just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40

3. Take advantage of opportunities to express love now.

Be full of love for others, following the example of Christ who loved you and gave himself to God as a sacfifice to take away your sins. Ephesians 5:2

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Galatians 5:6

Your next steps today:

1) I will express love to my church family by attending faithfully.
2) I will express love to God by spending time with His people in a Connect Group.
3) I will step up as ONE with my church family to express God’s love.

The benefits of God’s family tree

09/12/2011

Bulletin/Handout notes

 Original Message/Sermon:  Pastor Jeff Daws

From morning service at Stockbridge Community Church on 9/4/11.

(listen to sermon or make a donation at SCCview.Net)

Today’s point: Being in God’s family has benefits.

1. You are given through Jesus a new family name

You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26b NLT

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:5-8 NIV

“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it. Revelation 2:17 NLT

2. You have God’s family’s priveleges.

All honor to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is by his boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being born again. Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 NLT

Baptism is the privilege of being identified with the family of God.
Church membership is the privilege of becoming a part of God’s local family.
Connect groups provide the privilege of friendship in the family of God.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

3. You gain God’s family’s inheritance.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1-3 NIV

God will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. Revelation 21:4 CEV

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

Your next steps today:

1) I will receive Christ as my Savior that I may experience His cleansing & His Spirit’s power.
2) I will become fully engaged with the family of God by joining a Connect Group.
3) I will live in the light of eternity, not for retirement.

Today’s point: When we step up as ONE, our kids win!

Jesus said: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. Luke 11:17″

HOW TO STEP UP AS ONE:

1. By becoming one in JESUS CHRIST.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

2. By working together as ONE.

Offer Hope. (Matthew 5:16)
Nurture leaders. (Proverbs 11:14, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 3:13)
Engage your campus. (Malachi 3:10)

Will you take the ONE challenge with me?

Next steps today:

How to synchronize your family, and your church.

08/27/2011

Bulletin/Handout notes

 Original Message/Sermon: Pastor Ricky Mosel

From morning service at Stockbridge Community Church on 8/21/11.

(listen to sermon or make a donation at SCCview.Net)

“DOING LIFE IN ORANGE” Series (Part Three)

Today’s point:   Doing life together isn’t either/or; it’s both/and.

“It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this I-know-better-than-you mentality again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your own part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor. Luke 6:41-42 MSG

HOW TO SYNCH YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR CHURCH

1.) Kids need to be encouraged to ASK PARENTS FOR HELP in advancing their relationship with God.

Someday your children will ask, ” Why did the LORD give us these laws and teachings?” Deuteronomy 6:20 CEV

2.) Parents need to focus on working on ONE SMALL THING AT A TIME.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 NKJV

“Have you forgotten how good parents treat children…Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God’s training so we can truly live? While we were children, our parents did what seemed best to them. But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God’s holy best.” Hebrews 12:5, 8-10 MSG

3.) The church needs to give families a plan, and teach them how to follow it.

–“There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human society, are created, strengthened, and maintained.”—-Winston Churchill

“I am the Real Vine and my Father is the Farmer. He cuts off every branch of me that doesn’t bear grapes. And every branch that is grape-bearing he prunes back so it will bear even more. You are already pruned back by the message I have spoken. John 15:1-3 MSG

“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” John 15:5 MSG

SYNERGY: Two or more things functioning together to produce a result not independently obtainable. (Simply put in our situation: two of the three; parent, children, and church, working together to do something that not one of them could do alone.)

Your next steps today….

I will commit to synching my family with the church by….

a) Listening to my kids when they ask for help in understanding God.
b) Doing small things with them everyday that will show them God’s character in our family.
c) Partnering with the church & implemeting the plan they’ve shown me.
d) Giving my life to Christ and accepting Him into my life.

“How to keep your family on the right course”

08/20/2011

Bulletin/Handout notes

 Original Message/Sermon: Pastor Ricky Mosel

From morning service at Stockbridge Community Church on 8/14/11.

(listen to sermon or make a donation at SCCview.Net)

“DOING LIFE IN ORANGE” Series (Part Two)

Today’s point:  “The heart of God should be primarily communicated through the heart of the family.”

I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands. Exodus 20:6 NLT

“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Deuteronomy 6:4-6 NLT

HOW TO FULFILL YOUR FAMILY’S ROLE:

1. FOCUS your priorites on what matters MOST.

Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 MSG

2. PUT yourself FIRST when it comes to personal growth.

He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:39-40 ESV

3. PURSUE whatever your kids NEED to have an authentic relationship with them.

…we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children. We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 NLT

We loved you dearly. Not content to just pass on the Message, we wanted to give you our hearts. And we did. 1 Thessalonians 2:8 MSG

Your next steps today….

I will fullfill my family’s role today by….

a) Committing to influencing my kids to have an authentic relationship with God.
b) Giving my relationship with God top priority in my actions, my conversations, and my example.
c) Pursuing healthy interaction with my family on a consistent basis.
d) Offering my life to Christ and accepting Him into my life.

“DOING LIFE IN ORANGE” Series (Part One)

Today’s point: When love rules the church, our kids see Jesus.

Matthew 16:16-18 (NIVSimon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

1. By receiving GOD’S LOVE that shine’s through Jesus.

John 13:34-35 (NIV) “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

2. By letting the love of Jesus shine through our ATTITUDE toward each other.

Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV) Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Matthew 7:12 (NIV) So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

3. By letting the love of Jesus shine through our GIVING.

Psalm 37:26 (NLT) The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 (NLT) Send your grain across the seas,
and in time, profits will flow back to you.

1 Corinthians 16:2 (NIV) On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.

4. By letting the love of Jesus shine through our GOOD DEEDS.

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV) “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

John 12:32 (NIV) And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

Your next steps today….

I will shine God’s love by…

a) Choosing a God honoring attitude toward others.
b) Becoming a God honoring giver.
c) Doing good God honoring things for others.

I ❤ My Church-Series (Week Four)

Today’s point: I can’t do life alone.

1. I can BELONG.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,  praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.  Acts 2:42-47 NIV

2.) Unity is VALUED.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23 NIV

3.) I am ENCOURAGED.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.  Hebrews 10:24-25

I ❤ My Church-Series (Week Three)

Today’s Point: Growing people change and changing people grow.

I love my church because…..

1. I am challenged to change the way I think to the way JESUS THINKS.

Proverbs 4:23 (NCV) Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.

Romans 8:6 (NLT) If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace.

Romans 12:2 (NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

2. I am challenged change through putting God’s word INTO PRACTICE.

Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

**Listening and doing is called obeying.**

John 14:15 (NIV) “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”

Philippians 2:12-13 (NIV) Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

3. I am encouraged to place my HOPE IN JESUS.

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Philippians 4:19 (NIV) And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Your next steps today….

b) Come back to Christ if you have been away (click HERE)
c) Give the gifts you have been given by serving in your church!
