TODAY’S POINT: SAVED PEOPLE, SERVE PEOPLE.

Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”  Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”  Luke 10:30-37 (NIV)

1.) I don’t have to be a pastor to be a MINISTER.

A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, hist heart went out to him. Luke 10:33 (Msg)

My children, we should love people not only with words and talk, but by our actions and true caring. 1 John 3:18 (NCV)

Point: Saved People, Serve People

2.) I can use the gifts I HAVE to help others.

He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. Luke 10:34 (NIV)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

For we are God’s masterpiece, created in the Messiah Jesus to do good works that God prepared long ago to be our way of life. Ephesians 2:10 (ISV)

3.) I overcome EVIL when I serve God’s family.

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” Luke 10:36-37 (NIV)

“When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation.” Matthew 12:43-45 (NLT)

Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:21 (NLT)
