Jesus Christ (part one of study)

How Jesus is God:

John 1:1-2 ‘In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God.’

If one thing is certain, the apostle John left out the human lineage of Jesus on purpose, where Matthew and Luke add it on purpose to show that Jesus is the descendent of David. John leaves out the lineage because his entire gospel is proving the point that Jesus is in fact, God. Jesus was in Heaven and the very same God that created the world in the very beginning. To further ram the point home that Jesus was the prophesied messiah, David was born in the exact same city all those years prior, that Jesus was. Jesus is eternal and absolute as you will read in the next verse.

Hebrews 1:8 ‘But to the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.’

1 John 5:20 ‘And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.’

That puts it pretty plain, as humans, we have a one on one relationship with God, by having a one on one relationship with Jesus because they are in fact one in the same. Jesus is “the ONLY TRUE GOD, and he is eternal life”.
How Jesus is also a man:

Matthew 4:4 ‘But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Here we see Jesus telling Satan that he, like all men, live by the breath (word) of God and not by food alone. He replied the same to the Pharisees you may recall. Another interesting thing to note is that any time a demon or evil spirit addresses Jesus, they refer to him as the son of God, instead of how most (including himself) did as the son of Man. It is my belief (and many scholars that I have read from) that the evil beings refused to call Jesus the son of man, because that would have indicated their defeat, because to admit God had come in the flesh would be admitting that the Messiah had come.

Romans 1:3 ‘The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family’

Paul reminds us of Chris’s humanity by reminding us (as in Luke and Mark) that Jesus came from a human bloodline. David’s family = Jesus human nature. It was in this very incarnation that God in the form of Jesus came to mankind to finally fulfill God’s purpose for mankind that all men dating all the way back to Adam the first man, failed to do.

Thus the prophecy of the messiah to begin with.
Hope you learned, or re-learned this joyfully.

Stay blessed, not stressed.
