A one person audience

Dispute of Jesus and the Pharisees over tribut...

“On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, but his mother spoke up and said, ‘No! He is to be called John.’ They said to her, ‘There is no one among your relatives who has that name.'” (Luke 1:59-61).

Ever had to go against the public opinion? What about those opinions of your family or friends?
Hebrew tradition clearly shows that people named their sons after their ancestor, in one way or another. The kids names were meant to honor their families. When Elizabeth said NO, they appealed to her husband Zechariah. Unfortunately for them, he agreed with his wife. The archangel Gabriel gave them the name John, and they did what the Lord said even though others disapproved.

Todays leaders are more concerned with public opinion that what the Lord wants. But if you will remember, the Pharisees wanted Jesus to conform to their laws and way of life. Jesus did not care about the public opinion, an audience of a million men could not have changed His mind. He simply cared about the opinion of His audience of ONE (God the father), who He lived to serve. When we are true to what God wants, the cost is irrelevant.

The question for you today is, who is truly the person you need approval from? An audience of mere mortals, or an audience of One True God?
Be blessed,
Chris
